A GUIDE FOR BRITISH STUDENTS
Study Medicine in Europe in English
A European medical degree is a major academic, financial and personal commitment. Compare the exact admissions route, clinical training, total cost and eventual UK registration requirements before choosing a medical school.

How to compare medical schools
Start with the qualification and campus, then compare science requirements, how applicants are selected and where the clinical years take place. A six-year undergraduate degree and a graduate-entry route are different programmes: prior study does not automatically shorten a course.
Can you study medicine without an entrance exam?
Some published international routes assess school results and an application dossier. Others require an interview, a written science test, or both. An exemption applies only when the university confirms that your qualifications meet its current rules. Use each profile’s entry label to distinguish these routes.
Plan the route back to Britain
Ask the GMC about the exact final qualification, awarding authority and clinical training. Do not treat an English-language course or a university marketing claim as proof of eligibility for UK registration.
Questions to ask before applying
- Does the university accept my exact A-level science combination?
- Are predicted grades accepted, and when are final results required?
- Where will I train clinically, and what local-language level will I need?
