Look closely at patient-facing training
Ask when supervised patient care begins, how clinical experience is assessed, which dental materials are included in tuition and what happens if a clinical requirement cannot be completed on time. English lectures do not answer every question about communication with local patients.
Understand how applicants are selected
The directory separates school-record assessment, interviews, written tests and conditional exemptions. A route without a written entrance exam can still be competitive. Read the qualification requirements and the current admissions calendar together.
Check the GDC position for your graduation year
The GDC’s current EEA qualification arrangements have a published time horizon. A student beginning a long dental degree now should not assume that the same recognition route will apply at graduation. Ask about the exact award and allow for possible examinations and registration costs.
Questions to ask before applying
- Are instruments, materials and clinical consumables included in tuition?
- Is the published duration inclusive of the internship and state examinations?
