The admission route

The International Medical School has limited enrolment and requires the nationally regulated English-language admission test (IMAT), a suitable upper-secondary qualification and a position within the applicable ranking.

The reviewed official course sheet is for 2026/27. Its admission test took place in September 2026; those dates must not be reused for 2027. Confirm the next national call and the applicable EU/equivalent or non-EU-abroad route.

Check intake- and category-specific dates

Use the application calendar and official admission office to confirm the dates for your intake and applicant category. A past calendar is not a current application window.

European qualification route

The GMC assesses the exact European award and required accompanying evidence under its country-specific rules. Confirm the diploma, internship and registration requirements for your graduation year. Admission, professional registration, NHS training allocation and permission to work are separate decisions.

Exact award
Laurea Magistrale in Medicina e Chirurgia (single-cycle Medicine and Surgery degree)
Entry level
School-leaver entry
Course and training
Six years / 360 ECTS; confirm the qualifying practical training and documents needed for registration separately.
Campus / placements
International Medical School, University of Milan; confirm cohort teaching and clinical locations before arranging accommodation.
Clinical access
Italian is not an admission prerequisite according to IMS, but a good level is required to access clinical activities in the third year. Confirm the assessed level and support provided.

Check the rules for your expected graduation year. Recognition of a qualification, registration, a training place and permission to work are separate decisions.

What to prepare

  • Passport and the application form for your nationality route.
  • Your original school-leaving qualifications, subject grades and transcripts; add degree and prerequisite-course evidence for graduate or college-entry routes. Confirm predicted-grade rules if results are pending.
  • Evidence of English or the university’s written exemption.
  • Any required motivation statement, references, medical form and passport photograph.
  • Certified copies, translations, recognition and apostille only in the format requested by this university.

This is a preparation checklist. The university’s current country-specific list determines which items you must submit.

What the degree could cost

No single current UK-applicant tuition amount is verified. The university applies a fixed first instalment and a variable second instalment; for international income/assets, country-based rules apply. Obtain an assessment for the exact course, nationality/residence and academic year.

  • Check deposit deadlines, refund terms and what happens if a visa is refused.
  • Ask which clinical activities require the local language, and how students reach the required level.
  • Ask the UK regulator about the exact award, teaching location and expected graduation year.
