UK REGISTRATION
An EEA dental degree is not a promise of future UK registration
By MedStudy editorial · Published 22 Oct 2026
The current standstill arrangements run to June 2028. Students beginning now should ask what happens at graduation, not just at enrolment.
The GDC currently recognises qualifying EEA dental qualifications through a near-automatic process under the standstill arrangements. Its background page identifies June 2028 as the current extension horizon.
The GDC says the arrangements after that period are unknown. A five- or six-year degree starting in 2027 finishes later. Keep the possibility of a registration examination, extra preparation and delay in your financial and career plan.
