INTERNATIONAL STUDY
Study worldwide, plan your return to UK practice
By MedStudy editorial · Published 26 Oct 2026
MedStudy now compares European, Caribbean and other international routes, with exact awards, prior-study requirements and profession-specific UK registration checks.
Our international comparison adds the researched destinations while retaining a UK-return focus. Country coverage is selective, and neither a listing nor an English-language course is a promise of admission or professional recognition.
Compare four separate decisions
Academic admission, recognition of your previous qualifications, permission to study and professional registration are separate decisions. The private qualifications checker shows programme-level entry considerations and the points that require university confirmation.
Medicine needs a GMC route plus an acceptable plan for internship and subsequent training. Current foundation and specialty prioritisation rules differ. Overseas UK campuses are not equivalent to training in the UK for priority purposes.
Different professions, different return routes
Most new graduates from non-EEA dental degrees need ORE or LDS. For pharmacy, a locally qualifying overseas degree normally leads to the GPhC assessment, OSPAP, foundation-training and registration-assessment route. Nottingham’s specific Malaysia–UK MPharm is an accredited exception with its own conditions.
For veterinary medicine, check the RCVS list, the exact award and graduation dates. Current SGU recognition dates do not support a blanket new-entrant guarantee. European EAEVE recognition changes from January 2029.
Budget for the whole route
A four-year professional degree may follow several years of prerequisite study. Obtain the full fee schedule, account for clinical-campus travel and immigration, and price any later UK examinations or training. New profiles leave unverified fees blank rather than estimating a university quote.
